A brief overview regarding higher education in Germany:

German institutions of higher education rank among the top globally. Currently, there are more than 2.7 million students in Germany, more than 300,000 foreign students among them. According to recent reports, the number of foreign students continues to increase. There are more than 375 higher education institutions that offer study programs, including 170 universities of applied sciences, and around 100 universities and 70 private colleges.

If you are planning on pursuing your higher education at university or college in Germany we strongly encourage you to do so and wish you success. Germany is highly developed and friendly country for your undergraduate or graduate studies (e.g. Masters, PhD), specialization (e.g. nephrologist, gynecologist,…etc.), fellowship, training, or continuing education programs to support your career endeavors. How does it work?

To start the process, a few essential steps should be performed. First; please, complete and clearly fill out the following form “High Education – Screening Form” afterwards, please send (submit) it to us via email, fax or post. According to your requests and information, we will prepare the proper documents and make our decision matching your case. Then we will contact you via email (in most cases) or by phone (for urgent requirements) to keep you updated about next procedures.

Studying in German universities

The Federal Republic of Germany allows students from all over the world to study in the top ranked educational institutions, they can gain knowledge of a new language, culture and gain experience in various fields and disciplines e.g. medicine, engineering, economics, etc. from this developed country. Graduates of German educational institutions have excellent opportunities of obtaining work in international and well-known companies anywhere in the world. In addition, they have a significant demand all over the world. As an international student, “high school graduates” seeking to continue education in a German educational institution you must have a certificate or diploma equivalent to the German graduate “Abitur” degree. Students from certain countries have to enroll in additional courses e.g. Studienkolleg, DSA (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) or TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) to be able to continue their higher education. For students seeking graduate studies (e.g., Masters or Ph.D.), their applications will be reviewed on an individual basis according to their specific university’s admission requirements and the highest degree they received.

Visa and entry requirements to Germany

Entry to the Federal Republic of Germany mainly depends on your country of citizenship, the purpose of your visit and how long you are planning on stay in Germany. To learn more about visa rules and regulations of entering Germany please, visit this link Visa regulations.

  • If you are planning to study in the Federal Republic of Germany, you have to obtain a student visa. BCS advises you to apply for a student visa in your country at the German embassy at least three months in advance before traveling to Germany and starting your studies. The German consulate will send all your documents and application to the immigration office for review you where will study. After approval, the consulate will issue you a visa. After your arrival in Germany, you are required to register your stay. Generally, the following documents are required:
  • Duly completed, clearly legible and bug-free application form
  • 2 personal photos (When you prepare the photos for the visa, please consider the following recommendations: Photos have to be taken as accurately as possible; for biometric documents high quality photos are essential; your face takes 70% to 80% of the whole photo; no shadows on the background; only one person and no other objects are acceptable; avoid too dark and too light lightning, red eyes and flash reflection; against a neutral gray color background; at least with a 600 dpi print resolution; DO NOT cover your eyes with glass frames, hair, sunglasses and tinted glasses; head covering or hats are NOT permitted generally, exception can be made for religious reasons)
  • Valid passport (issued within the previous 10 years, and must be valid for at least 6 months and contains at least two blank pages)
  • Admission letter from the educational institution where you will study
  • Proof that you have enough finances to support yourself during your stay in Germany
  • Proof that you have health care insurance (BCS can help you obtain health insurance from a German insurance companies
